All About Loafers... The Good the Bad, and the Bloody Awesome

Loafers, Loafers Loafers....

Hello!

Welcome to this very first edition of our newsletter!

We’ll be speaking about something that seems to be somewhat of a trend with a lot of people who are finally seeing the class and beauty of the old money, quiet luxury sort of style.

Loafers!

I really like loafers!

And…. I was actually that kid from about 14-17 who wore loafers at almost every social gathering.

Yep… I looked out of place, like a kid trying to be an adult.

But, you can’t blame me…

Easy to take on and off, and you can wear it with anything!

Now, I’m a little more grown up and have learnt a helluva lot about how to actually style them.

So… that’s what this newsletter will be based on.

But remember… this is The Composed Man.

And I don’t want you just looking like everyone else,

Trying desperately to get some sort of social validation by wearing loafers, just because everyone else is.

So as this newsletter goes (The best, most stylish and where handsome studs congregate to level up) I’ll give you 3 outfits, to inspire you to look better and better, so how you dress never stagnates, 3 pieces of content that’ll be valuable and help you move forward in your life, and 3 pearls of wisdom.

That’s why it’s the 333 newsletter.

Because we all need inspiration, and who doesn’t want to look good?

That’s the whole idea with this, easy, quick hassle free style, just for you.

Now, back to loafers in a few outfits I really like.

The Three Fits That Inspire

I’ve got this really nice carousal I came across of Rowan over here.

He’s got a light summer-esque styled green suit….

It’s looks great… and we’ve got buckles on the pants rather than a belt

And, of course pleats!

But these shoes…

I mean just take a look for yourself.

The detail is where it is, and that’s what people notice. That’s I’ve put this post in… the shoes.

It’s subtle, but profound.

And of course fits perfectly with the theme of this newsletter.

So whenever you want to get something, pay attention to the textures of the materials. This interwoven leather loafer is a perfect example of a subtle, quiet statement of elegance.

I must say… This is well composed!

Here’s another pic of Rowan sitting down… same shoes, different outfit.

Still looks great!

Outfit 2

Now, we’ve got a reel from these two gents, Yousef and Guiseppe.

Yep… one of those quick transition ones.

Nice fits in both… but I want you take a look at the shoes in both the outfits.

They’re the perfect compliment to the duos outfit.

Suede loafers with tassels,

Comfortable, stylish and like the last outfit we had…

And detailed, with tassels.

Not a big heel on them either which is nice, making them super comfortable.

All in all, this sort of shoe works well with anything. We saw them wear it with a suit… and then with a more casual look in the polo shirts.

The great thing about loafers, and the whole calm, cool and quiet old money aesthetic is that you can piece things together really well.

You can wear this sort of loafer with shorts as well like we have below.

Just make sure the shorts fit you well, and accentuate your legs.. and not making them look like skinny noodles.

We don’t want that.

And when it comes to colours, you want to pick something that’s easy to pair with other pieces.

The go-to natural shades of beige, tan, brown, black, maroon and even light shades of blue work well.

Make sure you have a belt, or other items that match this sort of colour as well.

Outfit 3

Now for the last outfit we have,

It’s none other than Şeyhmus Can he has been killing it on IG for a really long time, he’s based out of Turkey and I’ve been loving his content.

Especially those cigar videos.

Not a lot of people can pull it off as well as he does… which is why I really like taking inspiration from him!

Plus, Turkey has been one of places where a lot of fashion houses are getting their clothes manufactured.

They’re super highly quality and the finish on their suits in particular are insane.

I’ve got a few suits myself from there… just make sure you buy it from a reputable brand like Şeyhmus’s.

In the post below, we’ve got him wearing this really put together suit.

View more on Instagram

Fits him well… but not super structured either like the typical British style suit.

And of course, we’ve got the ribbon/ robe-esque tie up thingy suit

And…. the shawl lapel!

I really like this suit…

But those shoes…

They bring it together!

Now… I know you might be saying that those aren’t really loafers

And yeah, they technically aren’t.

They’re double monk straps

But… they kinda fit into a similar category of shoes in my head at least

Not super formal like Oxfords, or brogues

Can dress’em up or down

And they’re comfortable!

So that’s it for this section of the newsletter. Get yourself some loafers (or double monk straps) and make sure they’ve got some sort of interesting detail in the texture or colour.

And don’t be afraid to look more put together or “composed” than everyone else.

Be bold, and dress to impress!

Not just others, but yourself…. because as I’ll elucidate on this later in the email. How you dress really affects your self image.

And if you want the financial or other success in this world, you’ve got to look the part.

Because first impressions not only matter, but last.

And if you want the best, for yourself and your family…. you have to look like you belong and deserve what you want1

The Three Pieces Of Content That Empower/

This short little video of Ayrton Senna is the sort of thing that gives me goosebumps.

I’ve watched over 10 times, probably almost 20 times.

It’s a piece of art, by Antti… he has some really cinematic videos on his channel and he only posts them now and again.

Give it a watch, Senna really was a Mystic.

Lessons we can learn from him are profound.

And I’ve also got this video from Captain Sinbad. I never really watched a lot of his stuff until lately.

He’s been putting out some amazing pieces of content, this video is just one example of that.

But the lessons from this video are profound… especially when it comes to the energy you exude and wanting to level up and have the best opportunities for yourself.

I know it may seem a little superficial, this whole status game thing. And it is…. but as a man who wants the best for himself… it’s something you have to understand!

And now, for a poem that’s greatly influenced this newsletter and how people should live, from the one and only Charles Bukowski

I’m not going to give you a full poem analysis line by line and what each word evokes with reference to Bukowski’s past.

But give it a read.

Style - By Charles Bukowski

Style is the answer to everything

A fresh way to approach a

Dull or dangerous thing

To do a dull thing with style is preferable

To doing a dangerous thing without it

To do a dangerous thing with style

Is what I call art

Bullfighting can be an art

Boxing can be an art, Loving can be an art

Opening a can of sardines can be an art

Not many have style not many can keep style

I have seen dogs with more style than men

Although not many dogs have style

Cats have it with abundance

When Hemingway put his brains to

The wall with a shotgun, That was style

Or sometimes people give you style

Joan of Arc had style, John the Baptist

Christ, Socrates

Caesar, García Lorca

I have met men in jail with style

I have met more men in jail with

Style than men out of jail

Style is the difference, a way of doing

A way of being done

Six herons standing quietly in

A pool of water

Or you walking out of the bathroom, naked

Without seeing me

Charles Bukowski

And if you are ever stuck in a rut….

Remember… Style

It’s the answer to everything!

The Three Peals Of Wisdoms That Illuminate

Self Image & Self Talk

Now, as I alluded to earlier…. how you dress greatly affects your self image.

Which is why I want you to dress well,

So you have the best most positive image of yourself,

So you can make the impact on the world that you know you were supposed to,

So that the sparkle that was in your eye as kid, comes back brighter than before.

The way you dress not only opens up opportunities for you professionally, were your superiors take you more seriously and pay attention to you more… and obviously opens the doors to more financial prosperity, because people trust you more.

But also because of how you end up viewing yourself,

Your self image is the single most effective determinant in identifying how successful you’ll be in your life.

Maxwell Maltz wrote a great book on this, called Psycho Cybernetics. Check it out here…. give it a read or watch this video on it

If you go about systematically changing your self image and improving on it, any goal you set will be achieved.

Also, do the 30 day challenge in the book as well…. and start to visualise the 3 minute success reel of yourself and the person you want to be.

Athletes do this all the time, it’s time you do to.

You deserve the success you’re aiming for….

And dressing better, seeing yourself better and having a more positive capable image of yourself will be one of the highest ROI activities you can do!

Performance, Action and Getting it done

You must be able to achieve, to complete and perform under any and all circumstances.

Not just when the stars are aligned, it’s sunny outside and the humidity is just right.

That’s what separates people, the ability to perform no matter what.

People who get it done when they say they will, even when the whole world is up against them

Be Outstanding…in the rain!

You need to perform especially when the environment and circumstances aren’t favourable.

Because any old fool can perform when everything else is optimised and perfect.

Performance is what matters

You, as an aspiring Composed Man, must perform!

Mastery

A book by By George Leonard, called Mastery has recently had a profound impact on me.

Yep, same title as Robert Greene’s book… also a good book

But if there’s a book to read…. I highly implore you to check this out.

Maybe just watch a video on it.

Or this post from the one and only James Clear about it

The most profound thing I’ve learnt from it is to…

Embody mastery in everything you do.

That means everything you do should be done with the conscious calm awareness of it.

To aim, and intend to be a master of it. From driving, to eating to working and everything in between.

Bring the idea of mastering this activity, the same way the attention to detail and awareness is brought at a Japanese tea ceremony.

Mastery.

Mastery.

Mastery.

This will be separate you from everyone else, become a master at dressing well, at your vocation, master it…. at least for the time that you intend to do it.

Embody mastery in every moment, in everything and in every breath you take.

Stay tuned for the next piece!

Peace.
